“Sensational Discovery: King Alfred the Great’s Remains Found Under Parking Lot”

Date:

Archaeologists claim they have made a sensational discovery by finding the long-lost remains of King Alfred the Great beneath a parking lot. Alfred the Great, a significant English monarch credited as the country’s founder, had an elusive final resting place until now.

Historical researcher Graham Phillips asserts that he has located Alfred’s grave after a 13-year search. The revelation of the burial site is set to be unveiled in an upcoming episode of the television series Weird Britain on Blaze TV. Phillips states that the remains are situated 20 yards away from a marker indicating Alfred’s original burial spot, humorously noting a similarity to the discovery of Richard III’s remains under a car park.

Alfred, who passed away in 899, was initially buried in Winchester Cathedral before being moved to Hyde Abbey in 1110. However, the abbey was later destroyed in 1539, leaving the location in ruins. In 1866, bones believed to be Alfred’s were discovered during construction and reburied at a nearby church. Subsequent carbon dating revealed these bones to be from a later period, prompting Phillips’ interest and extensive investigation.

Phillips speculates that Alfred’s bones, along with those of his wife and son, may have been relocated prior to the 1860s. He points to evidence suggesting that the bones were moved in the late 1700s when a prison was built adjacent to the area, leading to the transformation of the gravesite into a garden.

During his research, Phillips uncovered historical documentation from the late 1700s that hinted at the relocation of bones in the vicinity. He believes that the original bones were shifted during that period, shedding light on the mystery surrounding King Alfred’s final resting place.
