A tragic incident unfolded as a woman passed away following a swimming excursion in the waters near Plymouth. The individual encountered medical distress after swimming at Devil’s Point in Plymouth, situated at the eastern end where the River Tamar meets the English Channel.
Devon and Cornwall Police received a distress call at approximately 4:50 pm on Saturday, July 11, reporting a woman in medical distress after swimming. Despite the swift response of two ground ambulances and an air ambulance, the woman, aged in her 60s, could not be saved.
Authorities confirmed that the woman’s death is not considered suspicious, and her family has been notified. A representative from Devon and Cornwall Police stated that emergency services were alerted to the incident at Devil’s Point in Plymouth at 4:50 pm on Saturday, July 11, where the woman experienced a medical emergency while swimming.
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) spokesperson mentioned they were contacted at 4:34 pm on Saturday, July 11, for an incident in Plymouth. Dispatched to the scene were two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer.
