Passengers aboard a Ryanair flight en route to the UK feared for their lives as they were violently thrown into the plane’s ceiling during turbulent conditions. The incident occurred on Ryanair flight FR 9887, originally scheduled to depart from Alicante at 4:35 pm on July 10 with Liverpool John Lennon Airport as its destination.
Due to severe turbulence causing injuries to several individuals, the aircraft was forced to divert to Nantes, France, as confirmed by the airline. A passenger recounted the harrowing experience of the flight taking off at 6:05 pm, leading to passengers and cabin crew being jolted into the ceiling, resulting in screams and cries.
Describing the turbulence as unprecedented, the passenger shared the chaotic moments when the plane abruptly dropped, causing panic among everyone on board. Passengers had to hold onto each other to prevent hitting the ceiling as items were flung around the cabin, creating a scene of terror and confusion.
After the distressing ordeal, the flight made an emergency landing in Nantes, where medical assistance was provided to the injured passengers. One crew member sustained a knee injury, and paramedics attended to those in need. Eventually, a replacement aircraft was arranged to transport the passengers to Liverpool.
A Ryanair spokesperson acknowledged the turbulence incident during the flight and mentioned that a small group of passengers received medical attention upon landing in Nantes. The replacement aircraft departed for Liverpool at 12:20 am local time, ensuring the passengers’ safe journey to their intended destination.
