Iran has ridiculed the President of the United States after Donald Trump claimed to be engaged in ‘positive peace talks’ with Iran. Tehran utilized a series of popular memes to ridicule Trump, while Iranian authorities stated that no such discussions had occurred.
The official Iranian embassy account in South Africa playfully mocked the notion of the US and Iran jointly controlling the Strait of Hormuz. The post featured a children’s toy steering wheel next to a real one with the caption: “The Strait of Hormuz will be under my control and the Ayatollah’s.”
This reaction followed Trump’s announcement that he intended to jointly oversee the Strait of Hormuz with Iran and that he was conversing with a “respected” Iranian leader who matched their criteria. Trump made these remarks to reporters at Palm Beach International Airport as he departed Florida after spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago.
Shortly after Trump’s assertion of positive negotiations, Tehran has openly denied engaging in any talks, dismissing Trump’s claims and openly ridiculing his attempts at portraying ongoing peace discussions.
While Trump portrayed an improving relationship, US intelligence officials revealed that Iran had begun placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, with reports stating the presence of a dozen Maham 3 and Maham 7 Limpet Mines in the water.
In another meme shared by the Iranian embassy in South Africa, officials ridiculed Trump’s statements regarding negotiations with Tehran, depicting a fabricated WhatsApp chat showing Trump conversing with himself about postponing airstrikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
The exchanges occurred following Trump’s ultimatum to Iran, giving them 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face the destruction of their energy infrastructure. In response, the Iranian regime threatened to target financial institutions in the Middle East and the power infrastructure of neighboring countries.
