A 27-year-old nurse is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a senior resident at a nursing home in New South Wales, Australia. The incidents involving the 79-year-old patient occurred between November 2023 and February 2024.
According to police, the patient, who has cognitive impairment, was residing at a care facility when the alleged assaults took place. The accused was arrested on Monday, July 13 after an investigation by detectives from Coffs/Clarence Police District following a report of the assaults at an aged care home in Maclean.
The nurse has been charged with aggravated sexual assault involving a victim with cognitive impairment, as well as other related charges. He appeared in court on Monday and is scheduled to return to Grafton Local Court on Monday, September 7 for further proceedings.
