Blind dog kicked by postal worker, euthanized

Date:

A video captured a postal worker in an England shirt kicking a blind dog so forcefully that the dog had to be euthanized. The dog, Ethel, a shih tzu, was kicked after the delivery of a package at a residence in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Owner Eve Lewis recorded the incident on her Ring doorbell.

Ethel, an 11-year-old partially blind dog with only one tooth, sustained fatal injuries from the kick and passed away due to organ failure at the veterinary clinic. Lewis described the incident as the postal worker turning back to kick Ethel, sending her flying into the air and hitting the ground multiple times.

The devastated owner, who works for the NHS and has a five-year-old son and another dog named Stanley, shared her heartbreak over the dog’s deteriorating condition at the veterinary clinic. Despite efforts to save Ethel, she suffered brain damage, leading to the difficult decision to euthanize her.

Lewis expressed her deep sorrow and anger over the incident, emphasizing the need to prevent such cruelty from happening to any other pet. The Royal Mail is conducting an investigation into the matter and has committed to covering the veterinary expenses.

A Royal Mail spokesperson expressed regret over the distressing incident and highlighted their commitment to animal welfare and employee safety. They affirmed their intention to take appropriate action following the completion of the investigation. Thames Valley Police confirmed awareness of the incident and ongoing inquiries into the criminal damage and animal welfare issues.

No arrests have been made yet, but investigations and safeguarding measures are ongoing regarding the incidents.
