A furniture retailer that faced financial collapse earlier this year is poised for a comeback after being saved from liquidation. The European furniture brand Alinea will be relaunched following its acquisition by MH France, the French arm of the Chinese e-commerce group Aosom. The acquisition was approved by French courts on July 9, 2026, and was confirmed by MH France’s CEO, Emmanuel Benichou, on July 11.
Benichou announced the acquisition on LinkedIn, expressing excitement about reviving the iconic Alinea brand. He emphasized the brand’s significance in French culture since its establishment in 1988 and hinted at a new beginning for the company.
As part of the relaunch, Alinea will reopen its online store soon and establish a franchise-based retail network. MH France intends to maintain Alinea’s unique identity by blending French and European design aesthetics with imported products. The revival of Alinea follows a period of financial struggles that led to its closure in March. Placed under court-ordered administration at the end of 2025, the business went into liquidation on March 31, 2026, resulting in the shutdown of all 36 stores and the loss of around 1,200 jobs. Despite facing challenges, Alinea is now set to return to the market, with Benichou underscoring the responsibility and opportunity that the acquisition presents.
