A young boy, aged six, passed away following a tragic car crash shortly after his father sustained severe injuries in a separate incident. The boy, identified as Cohen locally, was involved in a collision between a white Volkswagen Golf and a parked white Citroen Relay van in Skellow, Doncaster. He succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on July 1, six days after the accident.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the fatal crash occurred just moments after another “devastating accident” where Cohen’s father suffered “life-changing injuries” from a bike collision with a motorist. The South Yorkshire Police have confirmed the arrest of a 52-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and other motoring offenses. The man has been released on bail pending further investigation.
The van driver is cooperating with the police inquiries, as reported by YorkshireLive. Following the tragic incidents, a fundraiser was initiated to support the grieving family of the father and son. The fundraiser organizer, Leanne Hone, highlighted the community’s effort to aid the family through the challenging times they now face.
The fundraiser has already amassed over £2,000 from 52 supporters, with plans underway for a fundraising event at Skellow Grange Working Men’s Club. Chloe Rayner, co-organizer of the event, expressed gratitude for the community’s support in organizing the event to assist the bereaved family during their time of need.
