A tragedy struck a family when a grandmother lost her life in a car accident while en route to identify the body of her deceased son. The unfortunate incident occurred following the death of Andrew Tinsley, 46, who tragically passed away in the River Dee in Llangollen, North Wales, on July 10. His mother, Carol Tinsley, 70, along with other family members, was traveling to Wrexham Maelor Hospital from West Derby, Liverpool, for the identification process when the fatal crash happened in Chester.
Carol, a grandmother of six, was killed in the collision, leaving the family devastated. Her granddaughter Lisa, 42, who is also Andrew’s niece, was speaking with one of her cousins over the phone when the accident took place on Parkgate Road around 11.30 pm. The sudden loss of both Andrew and Carol has left the family shattered, with Lisa expressing disbelief and profound sorrow over the heartbreaking turn of events.
Andrew’s passing was confirmed in Wrexham Hospital after a search operation in the River Dee. Lisa described her uncle as being akin to a brother to her due to their close bond and shared that he enjoyed frequent visits to Llangollen and swimming in the river. Cheshire Police responded to the scene of a serious crash involving a grey Cupra Born and a black Kia Sportage, resulting in Carol’s tragic death. The driver of the Kia and passengers sustained injuries and were hospitalized, while the Cupra driver escaped unharmed.
