“Fire Tornado Forces 10,000 to Flee Vacation Spot”

Date:

A devastating “fire tornado” has ripped through a popular vacation destination, leading to the evacuation of 10,000 individuals in the path of the intense blaze. The wildfire in the Saumos commune in the Gironde department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine has scorched over 2,000 hectares of land.

Authorities have cleared out the tourist hotspot of Arcachon Bay as the fire menaced residences and businesses in the vicinity. Many vacationers, particularly those staying at nearby campsites, have been compelled to flee as the inferno edges closer to the renowned area.

Meanwhile, a separate wildfire near Lège-Cap-Ferret, situated southwest of Bordeaux, has expanded across more than 31 square kilometers (12 square miles), according to local officials. Despite the extensive area affected by the fire, there have been no reports of injuries thus far.

Sophie Brocas, the prefect of the Gironde region, disclosed that approximately 700 firefighters have been deployed to battle the flames, with additional support coming from the Paris region.
