Harry Poulton, a 25-year-old resident, is urging families with young children to reconsider their travel plans to Benidorm due to what he perceives as unsafe conditions for kids. In a video that garnered over 118,000 views, Poulton recounted witnessing incidents that led him to believe Benidorm is not suitable for children.
Poulton described encountering a woman who, apparently intoxicated, defecated on the street in broad daylight, leaving him shocked and questioning the city’s suitability for families. While acknowledging Benidorm’s past reputation as family-friendly, he emphasized that the current environment, particularly in the New Town area, is not conducive for children.
Furthermore, Poulton shared his observations of individuals engaging in inappropriate behaviors in public, raising doubts about the city’s suitability for children. He highlighted instances of scantily clad individuals in public spaces, expressing concerns about exposing children to such sights. Poulton suggested that Benidorm has evolved in recent years to cater more to partygoers rather than families.
He advised tourists of all ages to avoid specific areas in Benidorm, including The Yellow Brick Road, Pueblo Alley, and Mugger’s Alley. In contrast, Visit Benidorm promotes the city as a family-friendly destination with its mild climate, safe beaches, theme parks, and outdoor activities, suitable for year-round family enjoyment. Benidorm offers accommodations and services tailored to families, ensuring a pleasant and safe vacation experience.
