Andy Burnham has raised concerns about the potential collapse of the NHS if the social care system is not promptly addressed following years of unfulfilled promises. With personal experience of his father suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, Burnham is determined to drive improvements in the social care sector to alleviate pressure on healthcare services.
Acknowledging the pressing issue of delayed hospital discharges due to inadequate social care support, Burnham reiterated his commitment to introducing a revamped social care framework. The Defence Secretary, Wes Streeting, echoed support for Burnham’s leadership and emphasized the significance of addressing the social care crisis promptly.
