Police apprehended a 15-year-old in connection with a shooting incident at a festival that resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The shooting occurred near Seattle’s Space Needle during the weekend, with four others sustaining injuries, as reported by the city’s mayor, Katie Wilson.
Mayor Wilson stated that law enforcement responded to gunfire sounds shortly after 6 pm, swiftly taking one suspect into custody. It is believed that two individuals engaged in a gun exchange outside the Seattle Center Armory, leading to the fatalities of a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman.
The teenager suspected of opening fire in the crowded area is currently being investigated. Authorities are actively searching for a potential second suspect. Witness Faith Adia Hunter described seeking refuge in the Seattle Children’s Museum after realizing the presence of a gunman nearby.
Following the chaos, vendors and attendees scrambled to safety, leaving behind their food stands. Roberto Ramirez, a vendor at the event, recounted the panic that ensued as people fled upon hearing the gunshots. Despite the commotion, some individuals lingered outside the cordoned-off area, eager to retrieve their belongings once permitted.
The situation left many shaken, with vendors and attendees expressing relief at having escaped the imminent danger.
