“Scottish Woman’s Final Texts Raise Suspicions in Athens”

Date:

Greek authorities have disclosed the distressing final text messages sent from the mobile phone of a Scottish woman discovered deceased in a discarded suitcase in an abandoned structure in central Athens.

The victim, identified as Elizabeth Jane Ross, aged 38, was found on Evelpidon Street in the Kypseli neighborhood by a homeless individual on July 18. Ms. Ross, born in Scotland in February 1988, is believed to have passed away five to seven days before being found. As of now, no suspects have been pinpointed, as per the Daily Record.

Detectives in Greece suspect that messages sent to Ms. Ross’ family on July 15 were not from her, but from someone using her phone. The messages indicated she needed time alone and wished to be by herself for a while.

A Greek officer stated to the Daily Mail that the phone was active, with texts sent to create the illusion that she was still alive. The location where the body was discovered is being treated as a potential crime scene.

Reports from ERT reveal that Ms. Ross had traveled to Greece from Cyprus the previous month and had been residing with friends in Athens before disappearing.

Proto Thema stated that Interpol and US databases identified Ms. Ross through her fingerprints after her DNA did not match any Greek records. Initial forensic examinations did not reveal any evident injuries or signs of a struggle, with a post-mortem analysis scheduled for the near future.

Police Scotland mentioned, “We are aware of the Scottish woman’s death in Athens and are collaborating with Greek authorities, offering support to her family in Scotland.”

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office expressed condolences to Elisabeth’s family, stating they are providing consular assistance and in contact with local authorities.
