A woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for orchestrating a deadly acid attack on her former spouse. Paris Wilson, aged 35, played a crucial role in planning the violent assault on Danny Cahalane, where sulphuric acid was hurled at him at his residence in Lipson Road, Plymouth, on February 21, 2025.
The victim, a 38-year-old father of two, sustained severe injuries from the attack and succumbed to them on May 3 of the same year after spending several weeks in the hospital. Wilson was found guilty of manslaughter and attempted kidnapping but acquitted of murder after a lengthy trial at Winchester Crown Court.
Another individual involved in the crime, Ramarnee Bakas, 24, from Islington, London, was also convicted of manslaughter and received a 10-year prison term. Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 23, from Neasden, London, and Israel Augustus, 27, from Tottenham, London, were sentenced to 31 and 30 years in prison, respectively, for their roles in the murder.
During the sentencing, Wilson broke down in tears as the judge, Ms Justice Heather Norton, addressed her, emphasizing that she was fully aware of the possibility of an acid attack occurring. The judge pointed out that Wilson’s actions were driven by self-interest, regardless of her underlying motivations such as money, security, or revenge.
The victim, Mr. Cahalane, who worked as a personal trainer and was involved in drug dealing, had a substantial debt to an international crime figure amounting to about £120,000, which he had been gambling with. Prior to the fatal attack, he had narrowly escaped an attempted kidnapping in January of the same year.
The tragic incident took place in the early hours of February 21st at Danny’s home in Lipson Road, Plymouth, while his young daughter was asleep upstairs. The brutal attack resulted in him suffering severe facial injuries from the acid thrown at him.
