“Prince Louis’ Sporting Debut Steals the Show”

Date:

Prince Louis made his debut at a significant sports event today, attending the Netball match at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales and his siblings. The royal family took their seats in a crowded stadium to watch the semi-final between Australia and Jamaica, with the children seated between their parents.

Kensington Palace revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as they are known in Scotland, would be present at the penultimate day of the “friendly games.” While the attendance of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis was kept low-key, it marked their first public appearance in Scotland.

Known for his playful nature and candid expressions, Louis has been seen at various royal events but has only participated in one public engagement before today. This marks Louis’ first time attending a major sporting event, unlike his older siblings who often accompany their parents to significant matches.

Louis appeared thrilled as he took his seat at the 5,000-seater Hydro arena for the Women’s Netball semi-final. The royal family received a warm welcome as they geared up to witness the intense match between Australia and Jamaica, the world’s top-ranked team and Birmingham 2022 silver medalists, respectively.

Later in the day, William and Catherine will interact with Team Wales athletes and their families. Prior to the games, the future King engaged with five Team Wales athletes, and the royal couple will also meet athletes supported by the charity SportsAid, which Catherine has been patronizing since 2013.

The Commonwealth Games, known as “the friendly games,” commenced on July 23 with a grand Opening Ceremony. Over the past nine days, members of the royal family have been actively involved in the sporting events. William and Catherine previously attended the Games in Glasgow in 2014, accompanied by Prince Harry.
