Former US President Donald Trump has stirred controversy by sharing peculiar AI-generated portraits of himself alongside historical figures George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The 80-year-old leader posted these images on his Truth Social platform, showcasing himself seated at a table with the two renowned American presidents. One of the images depicted Trump with an upside-down map of the United States in front of them.
Trump, known for his unconventional social media posts, did not offer an explanation for sharing these portraits. One of the images showed a slimmer Trump in an Elvis-style jumpsuit adorned with sequined bald eagles, while another merged his face with Washington’s in a digital poster reading ‘250 years – in God We Trust.’
This move by Trump is seen as an attempt to align his political career with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding, portraying his movement as a continuation of the American Revolution. Critics have accused him of politicizing the anniversary by diverting funds and staging campaign-style rallies, overshadowing a bipartisan commission established by Congress.
Supporters of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement praised the portraits, labeling the trio as “American legends.” However, critics quickly responded by creating their own versions, replacing Washington and Lincoln with figures like Jeffrey Epstein to mock the president. One user edited Trump into a clown, while another criticized the original post as “deranged.”
This is not the first time Trump has faced backlash for sharing manipulated images. Earlier this year, he posted and later deleted an image portraying himself as Jesus Christ, sparking outrage among religious conservatives. Despite the controversies, Trump continues to use his social media presence to shape his political narrative and engage with his supporters.
