An individual has been taken into custody following reports of a taxi colliding with a residence in Liverpool. In the early hours of Tuesday, residents on Asbridge Street in Toxteth were startled by two loud noises. The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 am when authorities were notified of a silver Toyota Corolla crashing into a house on the same street.
Law enforcement responded to the scene and after investigations, it was determined that the driver of the taxi, believed to be a silver Toyota Corolla, had engaged in a confrontation with another driver prior to the collision. The other driver departed the scene, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
A 40-year-old male from Liverpool has been apprehended on suspicion of affray and criminal damage and is presently under police custody. An inquiry is in its initial phases to ascertain the exact events leading to the crash, and authorities are seeking to communicate with the driver who fled the scene.
Images from the location reveal significant damage to the Corolla, with the house sustaining structural harm. The front window frame of the property was crushed, showing a noticeable crack along the window ledge.
One neighbor described the event to the Echo, stating, “It sounded like binmen moving the bins but it woke me up because it was so loud.”
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police stated, “At around 6:45 am today (Tuesday 4 August), we received a report that a silver Toyota Corolla had been involved in a collision with a house on Asbridge Street. Officers attended and following inquiries it’s believed the male driver had been involved in an altercation with another motorist prior to the collision, who had since left the scene.”
