A woman in southern Italy almost lost out on a lottery prize worth £857,000 when she mistakenly threw away her winning ticket, thinking it was worthless. After realizing her error, she sought help from the local rubbish collection company to find the discarded ticket.
With the assistance of the rubbish collection team, the ticket was successfully located after a thorough two-day search. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, was overjoyed when informed of the ticket’s recovery, expressing her gratitude over the phone.
The administrator involved in the search mentioned that locating the ticket seemed almost impossible, considering it had already been picked up by a garbage truck. Despite the risks involved in the search process, a specialized company was called in to assist in the retrieval efforts.
In a stroke of luck, the ticket was found intact and returned to the relieved winner. The administrator humorously remarked that he had touched the ticket for good luck, which seemed to work as he won £42 on a scratch card shortly after.
