Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles produced from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis is aware of one injury possibly linked to this issue, no fatalities have been reported.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside North America. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will examine and properly secure the second-row center and driver-side seat belt buckle anchors to the vehicle’s body as necessary.
