The RCMP’s top official in British Columbia has been dismissed from his role due to undisclosed allegations spanning from 2016 to 2018, as per an announcement from the organization. Dwayne McDonald has been replaced by John Brewer, who previously led the extortion task force in British Columbia.

According to a statement from RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme, no specific details regarding the allegations have been provided at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Duheme assured that there would be no disruption to RCMP operations or policing services in the province.

Prior to this development, McDonald held key positions within the RCMP, including serving as the head of the Surrey RCMP and overseeing federal and organized crime investigations in British Columbia. CBC News has contacted the RCMP for additional information on this matter.
