Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe, who retired on July 28, 2025, has made a comeback to partner with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, Cassandra Brown, and Paige Crozon in Canada’s four-player squad for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old Plouffe’s return comes as Canada aims to climb the rankings in the series. Currently placed 10th, Canada eyes a spot in the women’s series final in Shanghai on Sept. 5-6. Bangkok presents one of the last opportunities for Canada to amass crucial qualification points before the final.
Steve Baur, vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed confidence in Michelle Plouffe’s addition to the team, citing her close ties to the game and the program. Plouffe’s prior success includes leading Canada to multiple FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series titles, a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics. Bangkok not only offers a chance for Plouffe to compete again but also provides a valuable opportunity for Canada to strengthen its roster at a pivotal juncture in the season.
