Environmental activists staged a protest at one of President Donald Trump’s Scottish golf resorts by setting up miniature wind turbine replicas on the course. The activists, affiliated with Greenpeace, placed the turbines on the fourth hole green at Trump Turnberry Golf Club in South Ayrshire early Monday morning. They removed the replicas as golfers approached to avoid disrupting the game.
The protest was a direct response to President Trump’s known opposition to wind turbines and his support for oil and gas energy. This action followed the President’s recent social media post where he advocated for increased oil and gas extraction in the North Sea, criticizing the use of windmills in the region.
Greenpeace highlighted that a majority of Scots oppose President Trump’s stance on prioritizing oil and gas energy over renewable sources. Lily-Rose Ellis, a Greenpeace climate campaigner, emphasized the importance of renewable energy in mitigating climate change and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
President Trump’s resort, Trump Turnberry, has been contacted for a response regarding the protest. The activists aim to raise awareness about the benefits of clean energy and advocate for a shift towards renewable alternatives for a sustainable future.
