“Airlines Update Electronic Device Regulations for Smooth Travels”

Date:

As the spring season unfolds and travelers gear up for upcoming vacations during May half-term or summer holidays, staying informed about airline regulations is crucial. Electronic devices are common travel companions, but it’s essential to be aware of the latest guidelines to avoid inconveniences at airport security checkpoints.

TUI permits passengers to use electronic gadgets in flight mode unless instructed otherwise by the cabin crew. Larger devices like laptops may require shutdown during take-off and landing. Power banks are allowed onboard but should not be charged or used to power devices inflight. Devices must be fully charged before going through security checks, as per TUI’s guidelines.

Jet2 also mandates that all electronic devices such as tablets and laptops be carried in hand luggage and operational for security checks. Broken or damaged batteries are prohibited, and e-cigarettes cannot be charged or used onboard. easyJet emphasizes the use of “flight safe” mode for all devices during different flight phases and limits power banks to two per passenger.

British Airways restricts power banks to two per person and advises passengers to carry a maximum of 15 battery-operated Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs). Battery rating verification may be required, with calculations based on Wh ratings for acceptance onboard. Ryanair sets limits on personal electrical devices and lithium batteries, with specific rules outlined on their website.

Ensuring compliance with airline regulations regarding electronic devices is essential for a smooth travel experience. Passengers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with individual airline policies and prepare their devices accordingly before heading to the airport.
