A mother of three expressed deep sadness and her partner was brought to tears upon learning that their nearly £100,000 prize from William Hill was actually a result of a mistake in the app.
Millie Fox, a 30-year-old resident of south west London, initially believed she had won £94,000 on a jackpot drop game on the William Hill betting app. Overwhelmed with joy, she hurried to inform her partner, Greg Evans, after the amount unexpectedly increased to nearly £100,000.
Expecting a financial lifeline amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis, Millie shared that the substantial sum would have greatly benefited their family, especially with her being pregnant with their fourth child. The couple envisioned using the money for essential items, a significant grocery shopping trip, and even a family holiday, as they had not been able to travel abroad together.
Upon attempting to confirm their winnings with William Hill, screenshots revealed that Millie was credited with £94,902. However, their hopes were shattered when the company disclosed that the winnings were erroneously generated due to an app glitch, leaving Millie devastated.
Multiple other players also reported similar issues with William Hill’s app, including Claire Ainsley who believed she had won £1 million on the online casino but did not receive the payout.
An Evoke spokesperson addressed the situation, acknowledging a technical problem that temporarily led to incorrect payouts, ensuring that affected customers would be contacted to rectify the issue in line with standard terms and conditions. They expressed gratitude for customers’ understanding and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
