UK Bank Holiday Forecast: Sunny Start, Showers Expected

Date:

The upcoming bank holiday weekend in the UK is set to be bathed in beautiful 23C sunshine, according to predictions. Crowds are anticipated to head to the British coastlines, with a meteorologist encouraging people to make the most of Saturday’s warm weather. The southeast of England is expected to experience the highest temperatures, while the southwest may encounter some thunderstorms.

Cornwall and Devon are likely to see drizzle persisting into Monday, with temperatures in the low-teens Celsius. Conversely, the rest of the country is expected to remain dry, with temperatures peaking at around 18C. British Weather Services’ senior meteorologist, Jim Dale, mentioned that Bank Holiday Monday is likely to bring average seasonal temperatures, with rain moving into the western regions.

The weekend is forecasted to begin with sunny spells on Saturday, possibly accompanied by heavy showers and a humid atmosphere. Sunday is expected to have fewer showers and more sunshine. While Saturday will be warmest in the South-East at 21-23C, Sunday will be cooler despite the sunshine. Mr. Dale noted that Saturday will likely be the warmest day of the weekend, offering a great opportunity for beach outings.

As the weekend progresses, northern regions are expected to see cooler temperatures, with Scotland and northern England experiencing highs of just 11C compared to 17-18C in the south. The Met Office predicts sunny intervals throughout the long weekend, although the weather is anticipated to become more changeable, with showers and thunderstorms likely in the southwest and rainy spells in the north.

Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Tom Crabtree, stated that conditions are expected to become unsettled by Friday, with rain and showers spreading from the southwest. Some areas in England may feel warm and humid on Friday, with temperatures potentially reaching 24C. Heading into the Bank Holiday weekend, the weather is expected to remain changeable, with showers at times, particularly in the north, interspersed with sunny periods.
