“Arsenal Fans Face Sky-High Costs for Champions League Final”

Date:

Arsenal supporters are facing exorbitant expenses to journey to the upcoming Champions League final in Budapest this year. Flights directly from London to the Hungarian capital are currently priced at over £1,100 for a round trip, doubling the rates observed just before Arsenal’s recent victory over Atlético Madrid. Accommodations close to the Puskas Arena, where Arsenal will compete against the winner of the Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain semi-final, are being advertised at over £1,000 per night, four times the usual weekend rates.

As of Wednesday morning, the most affordable three-star hotel room available on Booking.com for the final’s Friday and Saturday nights was reportedly listed at £1,426, while five-star hotels started at £11,879. In addition to the escalating costs of travel and lodging, match tickets are scheduled to go on sale, ranging from £60 to £820 for category 1 passes. Arsenal fans, who have been allocated a limited number of tickets inside the 67,215 capacity stadium, may secure tickets with obstructed views for £656 each.

The elevated prices have shocked fans intending to attend the match on May 30. Some supporters have resorted to exploring alternative travel routes, such as flying through neighboring countries like Slovakia, to cut expenses. Others are considering taking the train journey from London, which involves a lengthy route through France, Germany, and Austria before reaching Budapest from Vienna or Bratislava.

Arsenal is also making arrangements for a chartered flight from London Luton Airport to Budapest, priced at £859 for supporters with Champions League final tickets. The dedicated charter flight, departing early on Saturday morning and returning after the match, includes complimentary bus transfers provided for the convenience of the fans. Arsenal expressed gratitude to their supporters for their interest in traveling to Budapest and assured that they are collaborating with UEFA and their travel partners to facilitate fan attendance at the game.

Ticket details were unveiled by Arsenal on Wednesday night, emphasizing that ticket sales will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Various price categories will be available, with limited view seating options due to potential obstructions like safety rails or pillars. Specific guidelines were outlined for Disability Access Members and attendees under 18 years old, requiring adult supervision for stadium entry.
