The mother of a popular TikTok influencer who is currently facing the possibility of execution by firing squad in Dubai has expressed her family’s anguish in a recent statement.
Brooke George’s mother, Thereza, is striving to save her 23-year-old daughter, accused of the murder of fellow Brit Bill Treeby, 26, whom she met online. Brooke, a former John Lewis employee with a substantial online following, traveled to Dubai to meet Treeby, whom she connected with on Facebook.
Describing the ordeal as overwhelming and heartbreaking, Thereza emphasized Brooke’s loving and determined nature, highlighting her positive outlook on life and resilience. She has initiated a JustGiving campaign to raise funds amounting to £75,000 for legal and travel expenses to support Brooke in Dubai, underscoring the family’s plea for assistance during this challenging time.
Detained in Dubai, an advocacy group representing Brooke’s family, asserts that she acted in self-defense after enduring repeated assaults from Treeby. Treeby, who had a history of legal issues including cocaine charges, faced allegations related to drug trafficking and violence.
Currently detained at Bur Dubai police station, Brooke recounted a disturbing incident where she was allegedly mistreated by authorities, deprived of legal representation, and subjected to humiliating circumstances. Concerns have escalated due to the severity of the charges against her, prompting advocates to emphasize the need for fair legal proceedings and support for Brooke’s defense.
