A courageous British visitor is in critical condition after being stabbed while pursuing a thief. The 18-year-old was assaulted after catching up with the robber, who had snatched a friend’s phone, behind a bar in the lively Las Veronicas area of Playa de las Americas, Tenerife.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. Emergency responders stated that the tourist’s condition is serious, with local reports suggesting it is critical. He was taken to a hospital and is believed to have been admitted to an intensive care unit.
No arrests have been made yet, but the police have deployed a specialized team to locate and apprehend the attacker. A spokesperson from a government-run emergency response coordination center confirmed the incident, stating that the young man was stabbed on Rafael Puig Lluvina Avenue and was subsequently transported to Universitario Hospiten Sur Hospital after receiving initial treatment.
According to the island newspaper El Dia, the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was chasing a man who had violently stolen a phone belonging to a British female friend when he was assaulted. The attack occurred near a bar named Oasis, a popular spot among British tourists.
