A British tourist tragically passed away during a vacation in Bali after being swept out to sea by a powerful rip current. The 39-year-old individual was reportedly hit by a wave and dragged away by the current while swimming at Nyang-Nyang Beach on the island.
The lifeless body of the tourist was discovered by horrified beach visitors near the shore in Pecatu village around 7:45 am local time on Sunday. Two other tourists were seen entering the water to retrieve the body, and despite paramedics being called to the scene, the man was pronounced dead before being transported to a local hospital for examination.
Nyoman Sidakarya, the Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, stated that multiple agencies were involved in the evacuation process, including the Water Police, local authorities, and lifeguards. The tourist was then taken to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for verification and examination, with investigations ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
A spokesperson from the Foreign Office mentioned that they are providing assistance to the family of the deceased British man and are staying in contact with the local authorities regarding the incident.
