A group of British tourists found themselves in a harrowing situation when they became trapped inside a sinking minibus during severe flooding in the storm-battered Canary Islands. Dramatic video footage shows one of the tourists pleading for help from the roof of the vehicle, while others urged her to stay put until assistance arrived.
The incident took place in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, where heavy rainfall forced the minibus carrying five UK tourists to come to a halt late in the evening. As the floodwaters rose, the group made a desperate attempt to escape the vehicle, with some climbing out through the sunroof and others needing rescue from firefighters using a ladder.
Despite the tense situation, all tourists were eventually rescued unharmed. The event occurred amidst a rare weather warning for potential flooding in the area, which had been issued to residents via mobile alerts. The extreme weather, attributed to Storm Therese, had caused widespread damage across the Canary Islands, prompting emergency responses and warnings to residents and visitors alike.
