A shooting incident in Brooklyn left eight individuals, including four children, wounded. The New York Police Department swiftly responded to gunshots reported in Coney Island during Fourth of July festivities. Police were dispatched to the 2900 block of West 31st Street around 10:37 pm as crowds gathered to watch fireworks.
Authorities rushed to the scene outside Seapark Apartments and were seen carrying young victims to safety. The number of shooters involved and the motive behind the gunfire remain unclear, although locals mentioned the area’s history of violence.
The victims, comprising a 37-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, and four boys aged 14, 12, 7, and 6, were all injured. The youngest child sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach. All eight individuals were promptly taken to hospitals, with the 21-year-old woman, who was shot in the chest, currently in critical condition.
The NYPD confirmed that emergency services transported the victims to local hospitals, where seven are in stable condition, while the 21-year-old woman remains critical. The incident is under investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
