Canada triumphed over Puerto Rico with a clean sweep of 25-16, 25-22, 25-10 in the best-of-five match. Canada demonstrated superiority in various aspects of the game, leading in attacks (42-32), aces (4-2), and capitalizing on more errors (17-12), while also dominating in blocks with a score of 12-2.
Head coach Giovanni Guidetti commended the team’s mental resilience, praising their focus and unwavering confidence even during challenging moments, such as when Puerto Rico took the lead in the second set. Looking ahead to the next match on Saturday, Guidetti expressed optimism and anticipation for another intense battle.
In the upcoming crucial match for an Olympic qualification spot, Canada will face the Dominican Republic. Kiera Van Ryk of Canada stood out as the top scorer of the game, contributing a remarkable 20 points, consisting of 13 successful attacks, three blocks, and four aces.
