The 2026 induction ceremony for the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed a distinguished class featuring notable individuals such as former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, esteemed coach Dave Smart from Carleton Ravens, and Olympic flag-bearer Miranda Ayim. Magloire, known for his 12-season NBA career, notably became the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011 and was an all-star with the New Orleans Hornets in 2004. Currently, he holds the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League after serving as an assistant coach for the Raptors during their championship-winning season in 2018-19.
Coach Smart’s leadership led the Carleton Ravens to remarkable success, securing 13 U Sports championships during his tenure, solidifying the program’s dynasty status. On the other hand, Ayim, a prominent figure in Canada’s senior women’s national team, had the honor of serving as one of the country’s flag-bearers alongside Nathan Hirayama at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
The class of 2026, unveiled on July 2, also includes Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter (Doc) Ryan, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe as part of the 10-member cohort to be officially inducted at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
