“Canadian Man Guilty of Assisting Suicide in UK”

Date:

A 60-year-old Canadian man has confessed to assisting suicide by selling deadly substances online to individuals worldwide, including the UK. Kenneth Law appeared in a court in Ontario, Canada, where he pleaded guilty to 14 charges related to Canadian victims.

Law’s actions resulted in the deaths of 79 UK individuals who purchased his products. The National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated that the UK victims would be part of the overall case against Law.

Despite the deaths, Law will not face legal action in the UK due to potential extradition challenges after his convictions in Canada. British prosecutors labeled Law as a repeat offender who exploited vulnerable people for financial gain.

Law distributed 1,200 packages to 40 countries, with 286 individuals in the UK receiving the products, leading to 112 fatalities. The NCA and CPS confirmed that Law sent a total of 330 products to the UK.

In a letter to bereaved families, authorities explained the decision to include UK victims in the Canadian case, ensuring justice for all. Victims’ families expressed disappointment with the move, emphasizing the need for a proper inquiry into the circumstances that allowed the deaths to occur.

The NCA, along with 45 UK police forces, has been investigating Law since April 2023 to gather evidence of his offenses. Specialist CPS prosecutor Andrew Hudson assured that no victim would be overlooked in the process, aiming to present the full extent of Law’s criminal behavior during sentencing.

Law’s actions were also probed by law enforcement agencies in the United States, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. For emotional support, individuals can contact the Samaritans helpline or visit their website.
