A man who targeted vulnerable individuals at an elderly care facility has been sentenced to over two decades in prison, with authorities expressing concerns about possible additional victims.
Joshua Springer was given a 21-year prison term at Lincoln Crown Court on February 20 for his disturbing sexual offenses against vulnerable individuals. Springer, formerly residing at Cornstall Buildings in Stamford, Lincolnshire, had admitted to nine counts of rape at the same court on December 2, 2025.
His victims included three dementia patients at an elderly care home in the Stamford area and another victim in North Yorkshire. Of the nine charges, six were related to the individuals at the Stamford care facility, while the remaining three were connected to the victim in North Yorkshire. The specific care home and location in Yorkshire are being withheld to safeguard the victims’ identities.
Apart from the rape charges, Springer was also convicted of producing indecent images of children, to which he pleaded guilty. Detectives suspect that there may be more undisclosed victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Lovatt from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit emphasized the importance of continuing investigations even after Springer’s sentencing. She encouraged potential victims to contact the police, highlighting the ongoing efforts to bring offenders to justice. Anyone who believes they may have been affected by Springer, also known as Joshua Kearney or Joshua Kearney Springer, is urged to reach out to the authorities.
