“Cat Ownership Dispute: Amazon Driver Claims Pet”

Date:

An Amazon delivery driver in Bakersfield, California has been embroiled in a controversy over a cat he took, claiming it is his own pet. Joshua Gonzalez asserts that the black-and-grey feline is his missing cat, which he found in the same area and simply took back home. He was captured on Brenda Wilson’s doorbell camera during the incident.

Despite Brenda’s insistence that the cat, known as Junie to her family, belongs to them, Joshua maintains that the cat rightfully belongs to him. He produced documentation indicating that he adopted the cat on October 9, 2025, for his seven-year-old daughter. Joshua pointed out distinct physical features of the cat, such as its forehead design and eyes, that confirmed its identity to him.

Amazon has disclosed that Joshua, employed by a third-party service, has been barred from delivering their packages following the incident. The company stated that it is cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate the matter. The police have confirmed that the case remains open and under investigation to resolve the dispute between Joshua and Brenda regarding the ownership of the cat.

Joshua expressed his belief that he did nothing wrong by retrieving his cat and emphasized that the cat is in a happy and familiar environment at home. He mentioned that the cat recognizes him and is content with its toys. The conflicting claims between Joshua and Brenda are still being examined by the authorities to determine the rightful ownership of the cat.
