“Community Mourns 81-Year-Old Grandmother’s Tragic Accident”

An 81-year-old grandmother, identified as Rita Grimshaw, tragically passed away after being struck by a car at Silverlink Retail Park in North Shields, Tyne and Wear on December 22 last year. The incident occurred just after 5 pm while she was crossing near the Marks and Spencer outlet. Despite being promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, Ms. Grimshaw succumbed to her injuries the following day.

The driver involved in the accident stayed at the scene, and the Serious Collision Investigation Unit of Northumbria Police is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision. Rita’s family has expressed their heartfelt tribute, remembering her as a devoted mother to her two children and a proud grandmother of five.
