Scarlett Faulkner, a 29-year-old mother, tragically passed away after a sudden roadside assault. Today, her family gathered to bid her farewell at her funeral, held in St Munchin’s parish in Limerick, her hometown. Scarlett sustained severe head injuries in an attack near Birdhill, County Tipperary, Ireland, and after weeks on life support at Cork University Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on Monday evening.
During the emotional service, Scarlett’s sister, Victoria Faulkner, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, honoring Scarlett’s impact on their lives. Victoria fondly recalled Scarlett’s infectious laughter and the warmth she brought to every situation. She pledged to seek justice for her sister and expressed the deep love their family, including Scarlett’s father, mother, and daughter Oceanna, had for her.
Canon Donal McNamara, the parish priest, addressed the mourners, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness in the face of tragedy. He urged the community to embark on a journey of forgiveness, acknowledging the pain while striving for healing and peace. Scarlett will be laid to rest at Ballycannon cemetery in Meelick.
Following the assault on Scarlett, two individuals, a teenage girl and a woman in her 40s, were brought to court on charges related to the incident. The community came together to honor Scarlett’s memory and support her grieving family during this difficult time.
