Luke Humphries has issued a caution to darts enthusiasts that Luke Littler might decide to leave the sport if they persist in booing him. Littler, who recently broke down in tears after defeating Humphries to secure victory in the Premier League, opened up about his struggles with the audience.
The 19-year-old revealed that during the challenging early stages of the competition, he confided in his girlfriend Faith Millar about contemplating quitting. Recalling the tough times following incidents in Brighton and Manchester, Littler expressed his frustrations to Millar, stating, “I don’t want to do it anymore, just the crowd every week. I’m down bad.”
Throughout the 17-week contest, Littler faced boos from the crowd, particularly after a clash with Gian van Veen in Manchester, which visibly impacted him. Humphries, his defeated opponent, urged fans to cease the booing, emphasizing the importance of Littler’s presence in the darts community.
Describing the Premier League season as a “rollercoaster,” Littler credited his family, friends, and girlfriend for their unwavering support during challenging times. Taking to Instagram, he expressed gratitude for their backing, stating, “Can’t thank you all enough for that. We did it.”
After clinching victory against Humphries with a double 20 finish, Littler displayed strong emotions and became teary-eyed when addressing the media shortly afterward. Reflecting on the emotional moment, Humphries acknowledged the significance of such displays of passion in darts, emphasizing Littler’s exceptional talent and resilience.
Littler, accompanied by his family, girlfriend Faith, and friend Angry Ginge, triumphed at The O2 in London, averaging 111.67 and hitting 12 maximums to claim the trophy and a prize purse of £350,000, avenging his previous final defeat by Humphries in 2025.
By securing the Premier League title for the second time, Littler joins darts legends Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, and Gary Anderson in achieving this milestone, following his success in 2024.
