A disturbed father was captured on video drunkenly vandalizing a school bus filled with children in a fit of anger after being refused a ride on the bus.
Paul Fuller staggered onto a busy street in Sittingbourne, Kent, on April 22 last year and demanded entry onto the school service, which was stuck in traffic. Despite being heavily intoxicated, when denied access, the 42-year-old man turned violent and started hitting the bus’s windshield.
Footage recorded by a passing car’s dashcam showed the father repeatedly striking the window before grabbing a brick and smashing the glass. According to Kent Online, Medway Magistrates’ Court heard that Fuller also threatened to harm the bus driver, causing children on board to scream in terror. Fortunately, the courageous driver managed to steer the bus away from the scene as Fuller continued his drunken rampage.
In court last November, Fuller confessed to the charges, with prosecutor Victoria Aked describing the bizarre incident. She recounted how Fuller aggressively demanded to board the bus, threatened the driver, and made disturbing remarks during the attack. Children on the bus were heard panicking as Fuller prepared to break the window.
Despite the distress caused, the brave bus driver completed the school run. However, he suffered injuries from the shattered glass, leading to ongoing anxiety and reluctance to return to work. Fuller expressed remorse to the police, stating that stress and personal issues had driven him to excessive drinking.
As a consequence of his actions, Fuller received an 18-week suspended jail sentence, 200 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to pay compensation and repair costs to the bus driver and the bus company. He acknowledged his wrongdoing and expressed disappointment in himself, vowing to mend his ways and rebuild his life.
