CCTV footage of Haire’s movements in Co Cork is under review, along with interviews with acquaintances to gather more information. Gardaí have released a statement seeking details about Haire’s activities between July 17 and July 24, including his presence in Dublin, Kilkenny, and Cork city centers during that timeframe.
Reports indicate that Haire was closely connected to Donal Scanlon, a homeless individual who tragically perished in a drowning incident in 2024. Scanlon and an American national, Alex Warnick, were found in distress near a canal in Cork. Haire testified at Scanlon’s inquest, highlighting the role of alcohol and drugs in the events leading up to the tragedy.
Described as a vibrant person by a friend, Haire’s emotional state deteriorated significantly following Scanlon’s death.
