EE has unveiled an enhancement to its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing number of scams targeting people in the UK. The new upgrade, available to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers for £2 per month, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats.
Since its initial launch in 2024, EE’s Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year.
The upgraded Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, incorporating three key digital safety elements powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. These components include Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email accounts round the clock. Additionally, Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to identify complex scams in text messages, ensuring customers receive real-time protection. Safe Web is another essential feature that employs AI to block malicious websites while customers shop or browse online.
Moreover, the new Scam Guard upgrade introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious texts, emails, websites, or social media messages to receive instant feedback on their safety. It also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring to alert customers of any suspicious activities online promptly.
Malcolm Cubitt, EE’s Director of Product for Mobile, emphasized the importance of staying ahead of evolving fraud tactics. He highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cyber security by investing in innovative solutions like the upgraded Scam Guard service to protect and support customers effectively against cyber threats.
