An elderly man from California was severely injured by a massive bison at Yellowstone National Park’s Bridge Bay Campground. The 80-year-old grandfather, out for a walk with his grandson, found himself in the path of the agitated bison during rutting season. Despite being outside the park’s safety zone, witnesses attest that the man did nothing wrong.
The bison, already on edge, charged at the man after a nearby truck seemed to provoke it. The beast flung the man through the air with its horn, causing serious injuries. Fortunately, bystanders intervened, scaring off the bison before it could inflict further harm. The injured man received immediate first aid and was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The incident is under investigation by the National Park Service as visitors and officials emphasize the importance of respecting wildlife boundaries in national parks.
