A manhunt is in progress following the rape of an elderly woman by an assailant wearing flip flops who entered her residence. The incident occurred at the victim’s home in Woodroffe, near Darwin, Australia, around 8:50 pm on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson from the Northern Territory Police, the man unlawfully entered the house, assaulted the woman, and then fled the scene. The suspect, described as having an Aboriginal appearance with a tall and slim physique and wavy hair, was dressed in a light-colored top, dark shorts, and flip-flops during the assault.
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit are actively investigating the case and are seeking CCTV footage from the vicinity. They are urging the public to provide any information that might aid the investigation.
During a press briefing, Northern Territory Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby expressed her strong disapproval of the attack, emphasizing the need for the perpetrator to be apprehended and brought to justice.
