“TV Star Slams MP Candidate for Misogynistic Posts”

Date:

A candidate running in the Reform by-election has been criticized by TV personality Carol Vorderman for posting inappropriate messages online. Robert Kenyon, vying for the MP position in Makerfield, has faced backlash for his derogatory remarks towards women, including comments about Carol Vorderman and female rugby players.

Following the exposure of posts from his now-deleted social media accounts, Reform defended Kenyon, citing his lack of “polish” as a quality that would benefit his role as an MP. HopeNotHate, an advocacy group, revealed that Kenyon had two accounts, with one being suspended and the other deleted by the platform.

Carol Vorderman labeled Kenyon a misogynist, expressing her concerns over his online behavior. She highlighted his inappropriate remarks about female rugby players and criticized Reform’s support for him despite his controversial past. Kenyon’s affiliation with Reform UK has raised questions about his social media conduct and suitability for public office.

In response to the investigation, a Reform UK spokesperson stood by Kenyon, emphasizing his potential as a local representative. They defended his past comments, attributing them to his non-political background and promising a straightforward approach to governance if elected.

Conversely, the Labour Party condemned Kenyon’s online behavior, labeling it as unacceptable for someone seeking to represent Makerfield. They called out his association with a fascist campaigner on social media and demanded an explanation from Nigel Farage regarding Kenyon’s selection as a candidate.

The controversy surrounding Kenyon’s candidacy highlights the scrutiny faced by political candidates in the digital age and raises questions about the standards expected of public officials.
