“Emergency Evacuation After Fire on United Airlines Flight”

Date:

A fire incident during a United Airlines flight led to an emergency evacuation while en route from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Newark, New Jersey. Air traffic control was alerted to a fire in the left engine, prompting the plane to turn back and land safely at LAX around 11:20 am local time. Smoke was observed coming from the engine while the aircraft was parked on the runway.

All 256 passengers and 12 crew members aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner evacuated using emergency slides and airstairs before being shuttled by bus to the terminal, according to United’s statement. The airline assured that arrangements were being made to swiftly transport passengers to their final destinations. Only one individual sustained a minor finger injury, with no other reported casualties.

The Federal Aviation Agency confirmed that “United Airlines Flight 2127 returned safely to Los Angeles International Airport due to a left engine issue,” and passengers disembarked on a taxiway. The aircraft was en route to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, and the FAA announced plans for an investigation, advising inquiries to be directed to the airline and airport authorities.
