“Ex-Royal Security Chief Calls for Probe into Andrew-Epstein Links”

Date:

An ex-chief of royal security has emphasized the necessity for a thorough investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s connections with Jeffrey Epstein, urging that the inquiry reaches the highest levels. Dai Davies, who headed Scotland Yard’s Royal Protection Command from 1994 to 1998, asserted that transparency is crucial and called for a judge-led independent probe to uncover the truth.

Davies stressed the need for the inquiry to have the authority to summon individuals from various levels, including Palace officials, diplomats, and press officers, to ascertain the extent of their knowledge regarding the matter. He also advocated for the application of the Hillsborough Law to ensure accountability and transparency among public officials.

Remarks made by Lib Dem MPs Layla Moran and Lisa Smart echoed the call for an independent public inquiry to investigate what different segments of the state, including the police, the Palace, government officials, and Downing Street, knew about the issue. The focus was on the importance of transparency in revealing all details surrounding the scandal involving Andrew and Epstein.

The MPs’ statements followed revelations that a group of influential MPs would convene to discuss the potential for a parliamentary investigation into the conduct of UK trade envoys in light of Andrew’s recent arrest. The Business and Trade Committee is set to deliberate on its options amid ongoing police inquiries into the former prince’s activities following the release of new information related to Epstein.

While investigations continue, Andrew remains secluded in his temporary residence in Norfolk, with recent reports indicating police searches at his former residence, Royal Lodge. His past controversies, including his association with Epstein and questionable relationships with individuals from various countries, have come under scrutiny, prompting calls for a comprehensive statutory inquiry into the matter to ensure no stone is left unturned.

The unfolding events have raised concerns about the potential impact on the monarchy, with debates emerging on the future of the institution. Despite calls for openness and accountability, Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection to Epstein and is awaiting further legal proceedings to determine the course of action.
