The former wife of a man who fell victim to a fatal acid attack had reportedly sent him disturbing messages shortly before the tragic incident, a court revealed.
According to court proceedings, Paris Wilson allegedly warned her ex-husband, Danny Cahalane, in texts saying, “I hope you and your partner both get acid thrown on your faces.” Subsequently, a few days later, two unidentified individuals broke into Cahalane’s residence and carried out a vicious assault.
During the trial at Winchester Crown Court, it was disclosed that the 38-year-old personal trainer, involved in drug dealings, owed a substantial sum of £120,000 to a suspected drug lord named Frost, also known as Ryan Kennedy, believed to be residing in Dubai.
Prosecutors claimed that Frost was irate due to Danny’s repeated failure to repay the debt and was adamant about teaching him a severe lesson for his perceived disrespect. It was stated that Frost aimed to ensure Cahalane did not undermine his authority. The attack occurred in February 2025 when two assailants forced their way into Danny’s bedroom at his Plymouth residence, where his young daughter was present.
During the terrifying assault lasting over six minutes, Cahalane was subjected to sulfuric acid and multiple stab wounds. Despite his valiant efforts, Danny sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to them in the hospital after ten weeks. The court was informed that Wilson, aged 34, played a significant role as Frost’s local contact in Plymouth.
Allegations suggest that she assisted in locating her former spouse to aid the crime boss in recovering his money, anticipating substantial financial gain in return. Prosecutors argued that Wilson orchestrated the setup as she expected monetary compensation and believed that Danny deserved punishment.
Wilson reportedly expressed her intense hatred towards her ex-husband to her mother, accusing him of swindling Frost. She also messaged Danny, expressing her exhaustion with his lies and indicating that she was aware of his actions.
Prosecutors contended that Wilson was fully aware of the impending acid attack, as her threats indicated her comprehension of the situation. Furthermore, it was claimed that Wilson had previously lured Danny to her residence a month before the assault, where three individuals attempted to abduct him.
The acid attack was allegedly carried out by two individuals, Israel Augustus, 25, and another accomplice, as stated in court. Danny recounted to the authorities from his hospital bed that the attackers wielded knives and a screwdriver, demanding to know the whereabouts of the money while pouring acid on him.
In a desperate struggle for survival, Cahalane fought back, managing to strike one attacker with a screwdriver before the culprits fled through the rear of the house and escaped in a stolen vehicle nearby.
Wilson has denied charges of murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnapping, attempted grievous bodily harm, and involvement in an organized crime group between January and April 2025. Additionally, nine other defendants, comprising seven men and two women, have also pleaded not guilty to related charges.
The trial of Wilson is ongoing.
