“False Alarm Causes Airport Evacuation in US City”

Date:

A false alarm led to the evacuation of a major airport in a US city for more than two hours. Kansas City International Airport (KCI) was cleared out due to a reported “potential threat” around 11:15 am local time on Sunday. The Kansas City Aviation Department confirmed the situation and evacuated parts of the terminal as a precaution. Airport Police collaborated with the FBI to assess the alleged threat.

After an investigation, the FBI determined that the threat was not credible, and normal airport operations resumed by approximately 2 pm local time. During the evacuation, incoming flights were permitted to land, but departures were temporarily halted. Passengers on the ground and in landed flights experienced delays and disruptions.

Witnesses described scenes of police presence and urgent evacuations inside the terminal. Logan Hawley, 29, recalled the chaotic situation as he and around 2,000 others were directed onto the tarmac. FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized that such threats are federal crimes and assured a thorough investigation to bring the responsible parties to justice.

US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy confirmed the incident’s resolution and praised the swift response of law enforcement agencies, particularly the FBI. Ensuring passenger and staff safety remains a top priority in such security incidents, he emphasized.
